Clottey's effort opens ten-point gab for Chelsea

Accra, Jan 12, GNA - Emmanuel Clottey effort at goal opened a ten-point gab at the summit for Premier League leaders, Bechem Chelsea as the visitors struck late to beat Liberty Professionals 0-1 in their Week 17 Premiership meeting at the Dansoman Carl Reindof Park on Wednesday.

The struggling homers held their own until Clottey who replaced Emmanuel Osei Banahene minutes earlier struck outside the box from a dead ball situation that left goalkeeper Osei Boateng crawling ten minutes from the hour mark.

There was very little to choose between both sides in the first half where only scanty opportunities were created.

However after the goal, it was Liberty who produced a reaction that could have fetched more than an equalizer but for the bravery and dexterity of Chelsea's goalkeeper Ernest Sowah who stole the show and ensured the League leaders bagged all three maximum points.

Liberty hit their stride well in time with raids that opened up the Chelsea's rear but that gifted keeper Sowah with the opportunity to reaffirm why he was previously awarded as the Premiership best.
