Citi FM’s fantastic Friday football marathon begins

Two hours of football? Yes, indeed.

The football season has well and truly started with the resumption of the major European leagues and the imminent return of Ghana’s Glo Premier League this weekend.

The need for the media to satisfy the voracious appetite of its audience has never been more acute, as has the search for crisp and concise quality delivery of football information.

The Citi FM sports team is introducing an irresistible cocktail that promises to make the Friday nights of aficionados an experience. With two well-packaged shows, the team at Citi Sports is sure keep the audience hooked.

The Citi Friday Football Podcast, the original premier downloadable weekend preview soccer show, returns after a 16-week break – that was filled snugly by another hit program, Donkomi.

Starting today

The podcast premieres today, September 13.

“It is a show that airs for the duration of the football season (September to May) and features previews of the weekend’s action around the world,” according to the Citi FM sports crew.

“The format makes for easy listening due its conversational nature. Show-host Godfred Akoto-Boafo plus his colleagues Nathan Quao and Gary Al-Smith delve into various subjects during the 45 minutes in a spontaneous manner suitable for an end-of-week show that it is.”

The trio, who commandeered the critically-acclaimed Transfer Football Podcast (better known as Donkomi) in the off-season, provides insight and analysis into the happenings of the week’s top football stories from around the world.

However, The Weekend Globe understands that the tone of the Citi Friday Football Podcast will change slightly this time. In response to the call by local football fans for increased coverage into the indigenous game, the podcast will lean heavily on Ghanaian football happenings as the domestic football season begins.

For those who miss the pod, the Citi Sports crew assured us that it will be downloadable from the station’s Facebook page, as has become custom for their podcasts for the past year.

For EPL lovers

Immediately after that, the Citi Sports team provides the audiences – who have proven to be insatiable information guzzlers – with the equally excellent Official English Premier League Podcast.

Long a favorite of Barclays Premier League lovers, this show features exclusive interviews with footballers, coaches and pundits who make up the exciting world of the globe’s most popular league.

Friday nights have never been better with almost two hours of non-stop hardcore football fare sure to keep the country even more hooked on Citi FM, who pride themselves on being the home of football!
