Chicago Fire striker David Accam out injured

Chicago Fire's Ghanaian forward David Accam, who scored last week against FC Dallas, did not last very long against Adam Kwarasey's Portland Timbers last Friday.

He had to leave the field injured after 42 minutes of the MLS game - which they lost 1-0.

His injury did not come about from an encounter. He went to ground outside the Portland penalty area with hamstring tightness and motioned for a substitution, which doused the Fire's best offensive threat.

Chicago Fire coach Frank Yallop was in no doubt either; time to make the first substitution, and Accam went off, being replaced by another Ghanaian Patrick Nyarko.

“(He’s got a) tight hamstring, “ Yallop said, “so I don’t know how he’s feeling but we’ll know more tomorrow.”

The MLS club has no time frame for Accam's recovery and therefore did not speculate how long he will be out.
