Central Region Division Two Middle league takes off on May 1

Cape Coast, April 25, GNA - The Central Regional Division Two Middle League will kick-off on Tuesday, May 1 at the Robert Mensah Stadium, Cape Coast.

Mr Matthew Doe, Regional Chairman of the Football Association (RFA) who disclosed this to the GNA Sports, said eight clubs will participate in the tournament.

The Clubs are Elmina Coconut Grove Sharks, Ojobi Kaakyire Stars, Nyanyano Proud Stars, Mankessim Mir FC, Tuba Metro Stars, Great Breman United, Dunkwa-On- Offin Starke FC and Assin Dompim Alpha Stars. The Fixtures released by the Association has Elmina Coconut Grove Sharks vying with Ojobi Kaakyire Stars while Nyanyano Proud United will face Mankessim Mir F/C on Tuesday May 1. Tuba Metro Stars will clash with Great Breman United while Dunkwa-On-Offin Starke F/C vie with Assin Dompim Alpha Stars on Wednesday May 2.

Mir F/C will sort things with Metro-Stars on Thursday, May 3 with Kaakyire Stars meeting Alpha Stars on the same day. Starke F/C will meet Coconut Grove Sharks on Friday, May 4 with Great Breman United vying against Proud United on the same day. Coconut Grove Sharks will meet Alpha Stars on Saturday, May 5 with Great Breman United locking horns with Mir F/C on the same day. Proud United will meet Metro Stars on Sunday, May 6 while Kaakyire Stars clash against Starke F/C on the same date.

Mr Doe appealed to the referees who will handle the tournament to be fair and firm to all the participating Clubs to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Middle league He said it is the aim of the Association to produce a worthy champion devoid of controversies and therefore urged the referees and other officials to ensure that they do not do anything that will tarnish their credibility as well aa tarnish the image of the Association. Mr Doe advised the Clubs and their supporters to desist from act of intimidation or try to influence referees to win their matches, adding that the RFA has put in place measures to scrutinize and subject all officiating and club officials during the course of the tournament to the rules of the game.
