Cape Verde Versus Ghana in Praia On May 20th

Cape Verde's and Ghana's national football teams are expected to lock horns at the Stade da Varzea on 20 May in the qualifiers of the West African Football Union (WAFU) cup, official sources said Monday.

Mario Semedo, Cape Verde's Football Federation president, said the federation has requested WAFU to set another date for the match because 20 May coincides with the last round of matches in the Cape Verde national championships.

He, however, said if WAFU insisted on maintaining the date, then the Cape Verde Federation would extend its national championship by a week.

Cape Verde will meet Ghana after defeating Mauritania 1-0 during a pre-eliminatory match played on 7 April in Nouakchott.

The winner of the 20 May match will participate in the finals of the cup which will take place in Dakar (Senegal) from 27 September to 7 October, said Semedo.
