CAF satisfied with GHANA 2008 progress

Accra, Dec 22, GNA 96 The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has expressed satisfaction with the extent of work so far executed ahead of the Ghana 2008 MTN Africa Cup of Nations. The CAF Emergency Committee, chaired by President, Issa Hayatou said this after observing details of a progress report on the biannual event presented them by the Inspection Team that visited Ghana last month. Ghana will be hosting the competition that spans three weeks for the second time in six year.

The Committee expressed its satisfaction on the construction of stadia and other aspects related to the tournament. Information pieced together by GNA Sports indicates that the decision was arrived at after the Committee had watched a video on the progress of work on all the four venues, accommodation and training pitches among others. Two new stadia are being built at Tamale and Sekondi with the Accra and Kumasi sport stadiums receiving the needed face-lifting for the competition. The Inspection Team is expected to make its next visit earlier next year to check on the progress of work.
