CAF appoints referee Agbovi and others for continental tie

Accra, Feb. 11, GNA - The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Ghanaian referee William Agbovi for the preliminary Orange Confederations Cup match between AS FAN of Niger and Ivorian side Issia Wazi. The encounter which is slated for this weekend is billed for the Stade du Camp Bagagi Iya in Niamey.

Information gathered by GNA Sports from the CAF Secretariat in Cairo, Egypt has it that the 38-year old match official will be assisted by compatriots Haruna Ayuba and Badiu Ibrahim Adams. The game is the first international assignment this year for referee Agbovi, who is currently the longest serving Ghanaian "Knight of the whistle" after missing out on the just ended Orange Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.

Nigerien Chaibou Ibrahim will act as the fourth referee. The Ghanaian trio are expected to leave for Niamey on Thursday for the preliminary clash of the second tier continental Club championship. 11 Feb. 10
