CAF Cup: Goldfields Through To Quarter-Finals

Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup second round, second leg

Goldfields qualify 3-2 on aggregate.

GHANA'S SOLE flagbearers in this year's continental competitions, Obuasi Goldfields have reached the quarter-finals of the CAF Cup.

Their 2-2 draw with AS Aviacao in Angola ensured they progressed 3-2 on aggregate but it was a tense affair as Goldfields drew first blood through striker Nana Arhin Duah before Aviacao equalised from the spot.

Goldfields restored their lead in the second half, this time from the head of Isaac Boakye from a corner kick but as the game reached its closing stages, Aviacao equalised again.

With Goldfields having scored two away goals the home side still had to score two more in injury time to book their passage to the quarter-finals.

They did not and so it was left to the away side to celebrate their place in the last eight.
