CAF Confed Cup: Yacouba’s late goal steals a point for Kotoko against Al Hilal

Ghana's only representative in Africa, Asante Kotoko scored a late goal to snatch a point against Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman as they shared the spoils in a 1-1 drawn game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

20-year-old forward Waleed Bakhet Hamid steered the Blue Waves into a 33rd minute lead to stun the home fans.

Akonnor reintroduced skipper Amos Frimpong into the line up while Emmanuel Gyamfi recovered from injury to play.

Gyamfi could have garnered the opener for the Fabulous Club but he could not convert his chances.

Abdul Fatawu Safiu rattled the crossbar on the hour mark as Kotoko pressed to get the equalizer.

The 27-time Sudan Premier League champions managed the tempo of the game as Akonnor continued to switch his system around, playing three back in the last 10 minutes of the game.

A section of the Kotoko fans at the Green stands expressed their displeasure at refereeing by flying missiles unto the playing third.

Emmanuel Agyemang Badu burst forward in an explosive move to set up Emmanuel Gyamfi who weighed in a cross for Songne Yacouba to head home for the equalizer.
