Burkhard To Pull Another "Ziva" On Ghana?

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is having difficulty paying the $8,000 salary of the beleaguered national football coach, Burkhard Ziese.

"He could use this excuse not to return as his predecessor Yugoslav Milan Zivadinovic did almost a year ago. " - said a source at the sports ministry

According to the source, the coach had not received his salary, for two months, prior to his departure for Germany.

GFA is blaming, the national team sponsors, American based sportswear, and manufacturer, L-Sporto for non-fulfillment of an obligation to pay 40 per cent of his salary.

A protracted legal battle between the GFA and L-Sporto is imminent. The GFA is demanding $1million dollars from L-Sporto for failing to deliver on its contract, which includes kits for all the national teams.

L-Sporto, however, contends that the FA has been most unprofessional in its dealings with it.

According to the sources close to the sportswear manufacturer, the FA received kit supplies from Jako, A German sportswear outfit, while the L-Sporto contract was still valid.

It is also believed that L-Sporto’s failure to honour its part of the deal is as a result of the dismal performance of most of the national teams in recent times.

Contrary to media reports that Ziese had been prevented from making the trip to his homeland, the German left Accra on 26 July night to visit his sick mother in Germany and promised to be back on the 6th of August.

The Ghana Football Association chairman, Mr. Ben Koufie, was not available for comment
