Boateng reveals injury fear

Kevin-Prince Boateng is praying he will be fit for Ghana's World Cup quarter-final clash against Uruguay.

The Black Stars midfielder grabbed the first goal in his side's 2-1 extra-time win over USA on Saturday but limped out of the Rustenburg last 16 clash in the second half.

Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac revealed after the game that the Portsmouth schemer faces a race against time to be fit for Friday's last eight clash and will undergo intensive treatment over the next week.

And the 23-year-old admitted he will be inconsolable if he fails to overcome his injury in time for the Soccer City Stadium clash in Johannesburg.

Boateng told skysports.com: "I don't know if I will play in the quarter-finals, I don't know if it is a big tear in my hamstring but I will be devastated if I've to leave my friends and brothers like that, but I am praying."

Boateng has been linked with a move to Italy during the World Cup with Lazio mooted with the German-born player but the former Tottenham performer insists his focus is with Ghana at not his club future.

"I learned that Lazio are interested," he said. "I am not thinking about transfers - I am having the time of my life so far here in the World Cup"
