Boakye-Yiadom makes Ghana return

Striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom has made a return to the Black Stars squad for next month’s double 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, MTNFootball.com can exclusively reveal.

This is first call-up after injury ruined his campaign at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa where the team finished fourth.

The 19-year-old has been in top form in the Italian Serie B where he helped Sassuolo secure one of the two automatic promotion slots to the Serie A. Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah wants the teenager to partner Asamoah Gyan in attack with Majeed Waris’s fitness in doubt.

The technical head is leaving nothing to chance and wants to assemble his best players for the double qualifiers.

Boakye has been handed another opportunity to win back his place in the senior national team after injury sidelined him at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

His two goals for the Black Stars so far have been in friendly matches. The Juventus player-who was loaned to Sassuolo managed to score 11 goals in the just ended campaign.

Ghana’s full squad will be released today for the matches against Sudan and Lesotho.
