Blessing surprised by Black Stars snub

Ghana Premier League top scorer Latif Blessing is bidding his time for a first call-up to the Black Stars.

The Liberty Professionals playmaker emerged as goal king in the recently-ended local topflight with 17 goals, two more than Yahaya Mohammed of Aduana Stars and Medeama’s Kwasi Donsu.

Nonetheless, he was overlooked by Ghana coach Avram Grant for the latest national squad ahead of games against Uganda and South Africa on October 7 and 11 respectively.

“It sometimes surprises me, but not that much because it’s the nature of the game,” Blessing told Goal.

“Every coach has his system and how he wants the team to be. Some coaches love to have a ball juggler in their system, others do not.

“If I don’t fit into his system, it doesn’t mean that I’m not a good player or he is not a good coach.

“Every coach has his system, so let’s wait upon God. The right time will come and there will be a way.”

Blessing also netted four times in the Ghana FA Cup.
