Black star player in police probe

THE Ghana soccer team is being probed by British police after a player clashed with a steward following this week's friendly against the Socceroos at Loftus Road in London.

A Black Stars player, as yet unnamed, confronted a stadium official after the game in an incident stewards said had involved an allegation of common assault.

Ghana and Chelsea star Michael Essien and his teammates were kept waiting 15 minutes to board their bus when the incident occurred.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "There was an altercation between a Ghana player and a steward within the stadium complex.

"This was brought to police attention and inquiries will be made to determine what further action, if any, is necessary. No arrests have been made at this time."

The Australian side, who drew the game 1-1, had already left the stadium when the incident occurred.
