Mr Ben Koufie, Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has hinted that the current Black Stars would be revamped with the inclusion of some members of the national under-20 team to prepare for next year's Cup of Nations in Mali.

He told the GNA in Port Harcourt, where the Black Stars were humiliated 3-0 by the Super Eagles, that he would ensure that the dragnet for the selection of players would be cast wide to include outstanding players in Europe.

The GFA chairman said this year's qualifying series for the world Cup has been the worse for the country, adding that improper planning among other things contributed to the dismal showing of the Stars.

The Stars finished fourth in the five-team group, which was topped by Nigeria, joining four other African countries - South Africa, Senegal, Tunisia and Cameroon -- to epresent the continent in Japan/Korea 2002.

Nigeria bagged 16 points, one more than Liberia, followed by Sudan with 12 points, Ghana 11 and Sierra Leone with four.He said in order to forestall such future reoccurrence, plans are afoot for the Stars to tour Western and Eastern African countries to prepare adequately for the tournament.

Commenting on the match, Mr Koufie said the first goal came too early and it took the steam out of the players.

He said it was a goal, which the boys could have avoided if they had been a little vigilant.

Mr Koufie said the second goal was a clear offside and "it was a silly one". Definitely these plus the rather poor officiating of the Tunisian referee affected the boys, but that is no excuse for losing heavily.

He said there is the need for proper planning for the country's next tournament, especially the World Cup qualifiers, for success.

He said the Stars need to be injected with players from the under-20 side and in the near future, try to present a more youthful side for tournaments.
