Black Stars Welcome Back Foreign-Based Players

THE GHANAIAN Black Stars have confirmed that five foreign-based players have arrived to take part in their World Cup qualifier with Sierra Leone.

The five who were first ignored by former coach Cecil Jones Attuquayefio for the clash with the Leone Stars in Freetown are Kwame Ayew, Otto Addo (in pic, Emmanuel Duah, Yaw Preko and Stephen Appiah.

Skipper, C.K. Akonnor could not make the trip as he is recuperating from an injury, whilst his deputy, Samuel Osei Kuffour, is also missing due to Bayern Munich's Champions League semi-final match against Real Madrid.

The foreign-based players are expected to join up with 16 locally based professionals who have shifted camp from Swedru in the Central region to the capital, Accra.

THE LOCAL players include Godwin Ablordey, Lawrence Adjei, Godfred Yeboah and Osei Boateng (gk) who all play for Asante Kotoko. And Princeton Owusu-Ansah, Kofi Amoako, Nana Arhin-Duah and Isaac Boakye who are all from Obuasi Goldfields.

Meanwhile, caretaker coach, Fred Osam Doudu, has invited eight players from eliminated African Champions, Hearts of Oak, they are; Amankwah Mireku, Joe Ansah, Stephen Tetteh, Jacob Nettey, Charles Taylor, Dan Quaye, Ishmael Addo and goalkeeper James Nanor.

James Nanor was given the call in replacement of number one goalkeeper, Sammy Adjei due to ill health.

Also, Emmanuel Osei Kuffour was left out as a result of conceding two yellow cards in previous matches.
