Black Stars Draw with B/A Select side

A Brong Ahafo select-side made up of players of the three premier Division Clubs in the Region, B/A United, Bofoakwa Tano and Berekum Arsenals played a great game to hold an entire local Black Stars to a pulsating goalless drawn game in a special friendly played at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Wednesday.

The Stars featuring the likes of Goalkeeper Sammy Adjei, Emml Pappoe, Felix Yeboah, Daniel Yeboah, John Paintsil, Michael Asante, George Eranio, Stephen Owusu, among others, gave a good account of themselves. Liberty Professionals? John Paintsil, arguably the best player in the Stars? set-up was a constant threat to the B/A side, but for an excellent display of defensive acumen, by Abu Zeid, who made a special appearance for the homesters, the story would have been different.

Indeed, if there was any player who appeared outstanding in the Brong Ahafo side, it was no doubt, the evergreen Abu Zeid who proved too huge for the Stars? attack to handle. Such was his extra-ordinary performance that when he was substituted in the 70th minute due to fatigue (resulting from fasting), the crowd gave him a standing ovation.

Eventhough the match failed to register any goal within regulation time, one can conclude that the exercise was indeed a good one for the National Team, and fans who trooped the Sunyani Coronation Park had something to cheer about.
