Black Queens to play South Africa

... in pre-qualifier warm up

The senior national female soccer team, the Black Queens, would face South Africa in an international friendly on May 18, the Ghana Football Association has confirmed.

The match which would be played in Johannesburg, South Africa, would serve as a preparatory match for the Black Queens who are billed to face Ethiopia in the second round qualifiers for the 2014 African Women’s Championship in Namibia.

The team would travel straight to Ethiopia from South Africa after the friendly for the first leg encounter in Addis Ababa later this month.

The second leg which comes off in June in Ghana would decide who joins six other teams together with host Namibia for the eleventh edition of the African Women’s Championship which runs from the 11th to the 25th of October this year.

The event would also serve as the qualifier for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup as the top three teams would progress to the world event to be held in Canada next year.
