Black Meteors Finish Third In South African

The Black Meteors of Ghana beat Angola 3- nil to place third in a five nation youth invitational tournament played in South Africa. It was a sweet revenge for the Ghanaians who were whipped 7-2 by the Angolans in their opening match in the competition.

Ghana’s goals were scored by Ibrahim Kluvie, Stephen Oduro and Sam Thompson Okaidja who incidentally emerged the goal king of the tournament with four goals. In the final match, hosts South Africa beat Zimbabwe 2-1 to win the tournament, which also saw Denmark placing fifth.

The competition organised by the South African Football Association received little media attention and was played in the shadows of the highly publicised African Cup of Nations currently underway in Mali.
