Birmingham City boss fears losing Koby Arthur

Birmingham City outgoing boss Lee Clark has revealed he is worried the Blues will not be able to keep hold of Ghanaian teenager Koby Arthur and Demarai Gray.

This is because the outgoing manager fears big clubs in the premiership such as Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City could spirit them away from St Andrew’s.

The 18-year-olds started for Blues on Saturday, for the first time, against Bolton Wanderers. And the pair who have become a key part of the attack came under plenty of scrutiny.

“They (the supporters) have got to be excited about them, but worried,” said Clark, in his last interview before he was sacked. “There were about 12 Premier League clubs there on Saturday to watch Arthur and his colleague.”

Asked whether he thought Blues would starve off those interested in the next transfer window, in January, Clark said: “I just give them (youngsters) a platform to go and play. Like I have said all along, the ages don’t bother me."

“I love seeing the two of them. I wanted them to both get on the pitch and they didn’t disappoint Saturday. They will make errors now and then, because they are 18. But they were the shining light for us - brilliant.”
