Birim South win Regional Under-12 championship Trophy.

Begoro (E/R), Feb. 14, GNA - The Eastern Regional Under-12 Sports Festival ended at Begoro in the Fanteakwa District on Friday with Birim South District winning the Championship trophy when they defeated East Akim District by a lone goal in the soccer finals.

New Juaben won the Table Tennis trophy and Akwapim North won the netball trophy while the best-behaved trophy went to Birim North District.

The weeklong festival was to select a team to represent the Region and defend the national Championship trophy the Region won last year. In her closing speech, the Eastern Regional Director of Education, Mrs Ewura Abena-Ahowi urged teachers and parents to devise concrete measures to sustain the interest of the youth in active sports alongside their academic programmes.

The District Chief Executive for Fanteakwa, Mr Ebenezer Ofoe Caesar, on behalf of the District Assembly donated a trophy to the Region to boost netball activities.
