Berekum Chelsea forward Kofi Owusu insists his outfit will pull off a surprise win over defending champions Asante Kotoko in Week 22 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

Chelsea have enjoyed a wonderful season after dusting off earlier scare of points deduction by the Ghana Football Association which had left them in the relegation battle. But they have moved to second place on the log with 33 points, seven below leaders Ashantigold.

The 24-year-old has been an integral part of the 2011 champions after his transfer from Aduana Stars, netting eight goals and providing four assists.

“Kotoko have done well in the FA Cup but despite Chelsea not recording any victory in our games on Week 22 since 2010, we are coming to Kumasi to silence Kotoko and make history,” Owusu told Goal.

“We will make sure the whole city is quite on Sunday evening after the game.”

Last season, Chelsea drew 1-1 with Kotoko in Berekum and lost 2-1 in the return fixture.

“Every game I've played in the second round has not ended up in a defeat but a win and interestingly I'm fit to play on Sunday,” he said.

The two teams have met 13 times in the league with Kotoko winning six and drawing four times. Chelsea have won only once in Kumasi when they completed a double victory in the 2010-11 season en route to winning the title.

The visitors currently boast of the best striking pair in the league - Kofi Owusu and Stephen Baffour - with a combined tally of 18 goals.
