Berekum Chelsea arrive to thunderous reception

The Berekum Chelsea team made a triumphant return to Ghana on Tuesday afternoon after their second group game of the CAF Champions League against TP Mazembe.

The team comprising the technical department led by head coach Hans Van Der Plyuim, the playing body and other accompanying officials touched down aboard a Kenya Airways flight at the Kotoko International Airport at approximately 12pm local time.

They were met on arrival by a massive presence of the Die Hard Supporters Union and the media.

Chelsea are being celebrated following their impressive showing so far in the competition.

Led by lethal striker Emmanuel Clottey, the Berekum lads came from two goals down to come away with a crucial point from Lubumbashi against the two-time champions.

Their heroics far away in DR Congo comes off the heel of yet another spirited display in the 3-2 win over Egyptian giants Zamalek at the Accra Sports Stadium a few weeks ago.

Chelsea now lie second in Group B just two points behind leaders Al Ahly but more importantly have restored Ghana’s lost pride in the competition with their performance so far which has won numerous admirers all over the world.
