Bekoe wants to leave Petrojet for Kotoko

Ghanaian striker Eric Bekoe said on Friday that he aims to leave Egyptian Premier League side Petrojet and return to Kotoko in his homeland.

Bekoe joined Petrojet in January 2009 and settled in quickly, scoring 13 goals in the 2009/2010 season to finish as the competition’s joint top scorer.

Reports at that time linked him with Cairo duo Ahly and Zamalek, but a niggling foot injury sidelined him for the entire 2010/11 campaign and cast doubts over his future in the Egyptian league.

The 22-year-old is looking to join Kotoko, but would not mind staying at Petrojet if they wanted to keep hold of him.

“I am not begging Kotoko for a move but I would love to play for them again. The world players return home when they want to for various reasons, but in Ghana once you want to do that people read all sorts of meaning [into it],” Bekoe told KickoffGhana.com.

"I have always said that Petrojet has been very good to me. They have treated me well in every sense. If nothing happens I will play my heart out for them and play very well, because in football you don't know who is watching.

"I can't let my level drop with the thinking that I am punishing Petrojet. I would be punishing myself because afterwards, who will be interested in a player who doesn't give his best?"

Bekoe has one year to left on his contract with Petrojet, who lie tenth in the league table with one match remaining.
