Bechem United assistant coach Nana Agyemang claims that lack of potent strikers has affected their progress this season, as they battle for survival in the league.

The Sunyani-based club lost its 13th game of the season to Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

A first half goal by striker Kenneth Okoro proved decisive for the Phobians, condemning Bechem to relegation, with three games to end the season.

“We are really missing the services of Augustine Okrah because we find it very difficult to bang in the goals,” Agyemang told Goal.

“We are struggling to get a clinical finisher like Okrah.

“Noah Amartey was doing very good but had to battle with injuries and this has really affected us,” he said.

Okrah emerged as Ghana Premier League top scorer last season with 17 goals, and joined Sudanese giants Al Merrikeh prior to the start of the new season.

“I am confident we will survive but to be honest our inability to score more goals is a worry to the technical team and we are working hard to rectify it with few games to close the season ” he added.

Bechem had a fruitful season last term placing 5th with 42 points but with three games to end the season, they find themselves in the relegation battle with 34 points from 27 games played.

Amartey is currently the club's leading scorer with nine goals. Bechem will play host to Wa All Stars on Sunday.
