Bechem Chelsea to change name

The management of newly promoted premiership side from Bechem in the region of Brong Ahafo after long hours of meeting in Accra today had decided to change the maiden name of the club called Chelsea.

This according to management is in line with the club's policy of giving it a local name befitting its statues and place of origin.

However, the name decided upon by management after several consultations and consideration with prominent people in the region and football administrators for the club is BRONG AHAFO FOOTBALL CLUB.

"This name is coming into existence to bring peace and unity in this region through football and for that matter the name B A F/C,"said Nana Kwame, chairman of the club.

Also, management had decided that the club remains its home in Bechem meaning the club is going to play its premier league matches in the upcoming 2008/09 football season in Bechem and not Tema as being rumoured in town earlier on. A close source to the management also hinted out that the club is likely to play its matches at the early stage of the league in Dormaa-Ahenkro because the Bechem grounds may not be completed in time for inspection for the commencement of the league.
