Bayern fine Kuffour

Bayern Munich have slapped a fine on their Ghanaian defender Samuel Kuffor in addition to a six-match ban already handed out by the German Football Federation (DFB).

The DFB banned the 25-year-old African player of the year candidate for his clash with Schalke 04 midfielder Jorg Bohme in Bayern's Cup semi-final defeat on March 6.

Kuffour headbutted Bohme when he was handed a red card. Bayern were eliminated from the German Cup after the 2-0 defeat.

"It's not acceptable to let him get away like that," said Bayern manager Uli Hoeness. "He has harmed the club and team enormously. Not because of the foul but what happenend afterwards."

The defender, sent home from Ghana's African Nations Cup for "real indiscipline" in January, has already sat out one match - last Saturday's win over city rivals 1860 Munich.

Hoeness declined to disclose the fine but said that Bayern would donate the colletive proceeds from all fines to charitable works at the end of the season.
