Bahmed XI wins mini tournament

Accra, June 16, GNA - Bahmed XI Sunday Stars emerged winners of a mini soccer tournament organized at the Prisons Park over the weekend in Accra. The tournament, which was in honour of Major Tong, a staff of the American Embassy in Ghana, who has been a regular member of the team during his service in Ghana, was sponsored by Bahmed Travel and Tours Limited.

Bahmed XI won the tournament with a 4-0 score-line over newly formed Millenium Supporters Union of Ghana (MISUGHA) scoring two goals in each half.

Kofi Acheampong opened the scores in the first quarter of the game, with Shaibu "Guntu" Labaran of MISUGHA scoring an own goal to increase the tally for Bahmed XI before the close of the half. The second half saw Yaw Amuzu and Andrews Aryeetey Bedai scoring the third and fourth goals for the Bahmed team to end the day.

Bahmed XI took home a cash prize of GHC 1,000 and a trophy, whilst second placed MISUGHA were presented with GHC 500.00 as their prize. In the third place game, Coachito Stars defeated Bodey Stars 2-1 to place third and were presented with cash prize of GHC 300.00. Major Tong during his two years duty service in Ghana, was an ardent promoter of community football and a regular figure at the Prisons Park Sunday Stars encounters. Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh, Managing Director of Bahmed Travel and Tours congratulated all the participants for engaging in the mini tournament. He said his outfit will continue to support community football in Ghana as a way of promoting the game in the country and ensuring inter-personal relations.
