Aziz Ansah - I'm Still Open To Kotoko

WHEN the Sylvester Asare Owusu led Kotoko management resolved not to renew the contracts of Aziz Ansah and Michael Asante, many a Ghanaian waited with bated breath in anticipation of where the two players would find respite next season. Asante seems to have found solace in the camp of Accra Hearts of Oak who remain Kotoko's bitterest rivals. This was evident in his presence in the Hearts squad that inflicted the ego-boosting and killjoy defeat on Kotoko in the just ended Onetouch Top 4 at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Same could have been said of Aziz but after a chat with the former national star who has already been spotted training with Hearts, things are not really what it seems. 90 Minutes can confirm that the former Kotoko star is still open to a move to his former club. “I am a professional so if officials of Kotoko approach me with a deal, I could consider it” Aziz said. The former starlet who also played for Great Olympics was one of the players the management of Kotoko felt were not committed to the aspirations of the team and therefore felt the need to cut ties with. Aziz also threw more light on his flirtation with Hearts which he said was too tentative for one to conclude as a done deal. “They've asked me to take my time before taking any decision” he emphasized.

All these notwithstanding, Aziz Ansah has a prime target of trying his luck in Europe next season. This he says will depend solely on his agent Arat, who is laying some feverish foundations for a trip to Europe soon. Aziz Ansah signed for Kotoko during the Herbert Mensah administration alongside Fuseini Adams and Joe Louis from Great Olympics and moved on to play for Ashdod FC in Israel for three seasons. But ever since he returned to Kotoko, hasn't enjoyed himself much.

The 27 year old Aziz also has a great ambition of returning to the Black Stars. “I feel I have an unfinished business with the Black Stars and I'm optimistic that as soon as I start playing, Claude Le Roy won't hesitate to invite me” he said confidently. Aziz Ansah played a part in Ghana's qualification to the World Cup but only failed to make the final selection for the tournament itself.
