Ace Sports Journalist Christopher Opoku says it is in the interest of the embattled Ayew brothers to make a quick return to the Black Stars or have Ghanaians turn against them in the likely event Ghana qualifies for the World Cup.
Opoku said the Ayew brothers are good players but not indispensable like their father for which reason an early return to compete for places in the starting line ups will be welcome.
Andre Dede Ayew, Jordan Ayew, sons of three time Africa footballer of year Abedi Pele have all called time on their international careers following disagreements with some members of the Black Stars management team.
The Marseille duo were dropped from the squad announced for the 2013 Afcon tournament in South Africa and have since gone on an indefinite retirement from the Black Stars.
Several appeals to the players to rescind their decision have yet to yield any fruit.
But speaking on the Joy Sports Link at the Aviation Social Centre venue for the Hitz FM Rep ur Jersey programme, Christopher Opoku said it is in the interest of the players to make a quick return to the Black Stars.
He said the two players are not in the same league as their father who had automatic place in the Black Stars team and must, therefore, make a quick return to justify a place in the starting lineup.
“Otherwise if things go well and Ghana qualifies for the World Cup, Ghanaians will turn against them if they decide to join the team for the world cup,” he said.
Meanwhile, President of the Ghana Football Association Kwasi Nyantakyi says the door of the Black Stars is still opened for the Ayews, Kevin Prince Boateng and Michael Essien all of whom for one reason or the other have called time on their international careers.
