Ayew: I trust Ghana to win against Sudan & Lesotho

Ghana international Rahim Ayew has urged the Black Stars to get an early goal in their upcoming 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Sudan, which he believes will serve as extra effort to pick the first three points in the double header this month.

Ghana will take on the Falcons of Jediane in the second leg of the World Cup qualifier at the Al Merreikh Stadium in Omdurman.

Kwesi Appiah’s squad now has a great opportunity to book their place in a third successive World Cup appearance in Brazil 2014, and a good result in Sudan will smoothen their path to the global football fiesta.

Ayew, who was part of the squad at the 2010 Fifa World Cup, said the team should be more focused on their game and not on the other group D opponents.

“I know how difficult qualifiers can be and especially when it’s an away game, but for the Black Stars the main aim is to go to Brazil, so I believe they will do themselves proud,” Ayew told Goal Ghana.

“What I hope they do is to get an early goal which will put a lot of pressure on Sudan and force them to open up and that’s when Ghana can capitalise on it and get more goals.”

Ayew added: “The games are very dicey which need a lot of concentration, but I have trust in Kwesi Appiah and the players to get all six points in the two games.”

The Black Stars will depart to Khartoum on Wednesday for final preparations after their five-day camping in Ethiopia.
