Asuma Loses Case ....

An Accra High Court has dismissed a court case brought before it by business magnate Alhaji Asuma Banda against the Ghana Football Association.

The business magnate resorted to the High Court last year to appeal against a decision by an Accra Circuit court?s decision to quash the case brought before it in respect of Kintampo United.

B.A. United protested last year against Kintampo United for fielding an unqualified player in a Division One goalless drawn game in Sunyani. After the disciplinary Committee of the GFA ruled against B.A. United, the Appeals Committee rather overturned the decision.

This necessitated Alhaji Asuma Banda, a resident of Kintampo, to contest the case in court in order to ensure justice.

The Accra High Court presided over by Justice Ja mes Benson made it clear today that the ANTRAK owner has no locus standing to contest the case on behalf of the division One club.

Justice Benson maintained that once the applicant has no formal connection with the club, either as a Board member or a trustee, it makes it impossible for him to appear on behalf of the Kintampo club.

Justice Benson stressed that since Kintampo United had dissociated themselves from the case under Legal Instrument SA (J) (1); it makes it impossible for him to represent the club.

He described the action by the applicant as that of the proverbial ?outsider who wept louder than the bereaved? and awarded a cost of three million cedis to be paid by the applicant to the GFA.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Banda has decided not to appeal against the decision since he deems the interest of the country as higher than that of Kintampo United. The National Middle league will commence on Saturday.
