Ashantigold goalkeeper Robert Dabuo has committed his future to the Premier League champions by putting pen to paper on a new three-year contract extension.

The 26-year-old helped the Miners to win their first league title in almost two decade since arriving at Lenclay Stadium in 2013 from the Wa All Stars.

Dabou started the season as first choice until the arrival of Black Stars goalkeeper Fatah Dauda. However, the club's top hierarchy has decided to keep Dabuo ahead of their participation in the 2015-16 Caf Champions League.

“It wasn't difficult to agree to contract extension because everything went as planned,” Dabou told Goal.

“I'm hoping to have a wonderful time especially in the Caf Champions League just like we had in the Ghana Premier League the past season. I will continue to fight for my place in the coach's squad for game time,” he added.

Ashantigold will represent Ghana in the 2016 Caf Champions League and will lock horns with Algerian club Mouloudia Olympique de Bejaia during the weekend of February 12-14 in Obuasi with the return leg taking place in Algeria a fortnight later. The winner of the two legs will lock horns with the winner between Ivorian champions A.S Tanda and Tunisian giants Club Africain.

Goal understands that the board of directors of Ashanti Gold have approved $1 million as the budget for preparations ahead of the Champions League.
