Asante vows to bounce back after Ghana snub

Ghana and TP Mazembe winger Solomon Asante feels not disappointed at his inability to make Ghana’s 25-man squad for the crucial first leg World Cup playoff at home to Egypt in Kumasi on October 15.

The former Berekum Chelsea man speaking in an interview prior to Mazembe’s CAF Confederation Cup semi-final clash away to Stade Malien says he respects national team coach Kwesi Appiah’s decision to leave him out of the squad and promises to work hard and push for his place back in the team.

“First of all, I respect the choice of the coach and wish my country the best of luck against Egypt. I work with the TPM [TP Mazembe] to be the best and that is how I can get back in the national team,” he said.

Following a recent survey by the international press tipping Asante among one of top 10 Africa-based stars to leave for Europe in the next transfer window, the 22-year old tricky winger has refused to be dragged into speculations about his future saying he will seek advice from the club’s billionaire owner Moses Katumbi.

“I am a professional player and I have a four-year contract with TPM. In cases where proposals are made, I would discuss with my coach and my president, but there is no reason why I should leave now. President Moses Katumbi is a good man and he knows how to guide the players; I will follow his advice,” Asante commented.
