Asante Kotoko, Ashanti Gold Battle Over Orlando Wellington

Footyghana.com understands that the reigning coach of the year, Orlando Wellington is a coaching target for both Asante Kotoko and Ashanti Gold.

According to our sources, Asante Kotoko senior coach Maxwell Konadu has recommended Wellington to the club’s board as his assistant coach whilst Ashanti Gold are looking to bring him in initially as an assistant to Croat Zdravko Logarusic, with a view to replacing Logarusic as the club’s head coach because the Croatian faces an uncertain future with Ashanti Gold.

Footyghana.com investigations indicate that Wellington, who is currently close to leaving Premier League champions Berekum Chelsea, is currently talking to his advisers on which club to join.

Wellington was the assistant coach when Ghana’s Black Satellites became the first African team to win the World Youth Cup two years ago in Egypt, but failed to qualify the Satellites for this year’s World Youth Cup.

He led Berekum Chelsea to its first ever Premier League title as head coach but will leave the club soon because Steve Polak is now Chelsea’s head coach.
