Asamoah ruled out of Lesotho game

Accra, Sept 23, GNA - France-based forward and Black Stars striker, Asamoah Gyan has been ruled out of next month's 2010 World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho slated for the Essipong Stadium, Sekondi.

The Stade Rennes attacker has been ruled out action for three weeks after aggravating an earlier injury.

Black Stars coach, Milovan Rajevac told GNA Sports that his outfit was steadily awaiting the player's return to beef up the attacking strength of the team till the latest unfortunate development. "Asamoah is expected in Accra by the close of the week to seek medical attention on his troubled thigh."

Coach Milovan however remains optimistic about his team's chances despite the loss of one of the influential players of the team. Asamoah who is yet to feature for the Stars since the 26th MTN Ghana 2008 African Cup of Nations, tore a thigh muscle during a league match between Rennes and Lille last August. The 22-year old has scored 13 goals in 27 appearances for the Black Stars since making his debut in 2003.
