Asamoah close to new deal

Young forward Derek Asamoah looks set to become the first of the six players offered new contracts to sign for English division 2 side, Northampton Town.

Ghanaian-born Asamoah has been marked out as a potential star of the future despite scoring just three times this season and manager Kevan Broadhurst is keen to keep him at the club.

Despite holding back from signing so far, it appears that the 20-year-old striker has already agreed to the terms and all that needs to be done is to put pen to paper.
