Stand-in Ghana captain Andre Ayew believes without injured key players Asamoah Gyan and Kwadwo Asamoah, the Black Stars are still capable of beating Uganda this weekend.

The west Africans are billed to face off with the Cranes in Kampala in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and Togo at home afterwards.

Care-taker coach Maxwell Konadu has given a call-up to Saudi Arabia-based Emmanuel Osei Banahene in place of the Al Ain goal poacher Gyan.

A section of Ghanaian fans have expressed worry about the absence of the duo, but the Olympic Marseille midfielder has given the assurance that the four-time African champions are still strong with or without the two.

“We are disappointed two key players are out,” the 2009 Under-20 World Cup winner told Accra-based Starr FM. “We believe in our team and players and we can do a great job. We are going to train hard.”

Ghana are leading their group with eight points.
