Arsenal Ghana Supporters Club (AGSC) beat Tema base Division 3 outfit Olive FC 3-1 to win the 2015 edition of the Sallah Challenge Cup played at the Chemu Park in Tema on Monday.

AGSC who before the game were touted as the underdogs came out all guns blazing as early as the third minute when Steffen King Amoah powered home a long drive that came of the upright.

Buoyed by that, the AGSC side piled more pressure on their host to unsettle them and this created uneasiness in the backline of the opposition, resulting in the through Christopher Ahombou who was put through by midfield dynamo Steffen Amoah in the 15th minute.

Olive FC who by far had stamina and endurance than their opponents resorted to individual play which saw them blowing away begging chances that came their way while agile goalkeeping on the part of Gamel Abubakar aka Banana foiled the attempts that went on target.

Midfielder Christopher Adjei aka Chris Ozil extended the lead for AGSC when he scored the second goal on the 40th minute mark.

Back from recess the Division three side who have lost just a game in 15 matches lifted up their game and piling incessant pressure on the defense line of AGSC side marshaled around Sena Rayziray, Nana Aboagye, Afrifa Yaw Adjepong and Samuel Amanyi who stood resolute to clear their lines.

Robert Musey in the 62nd minute finished off a sublime move between Cephas Kwegyir and Bernard Brenya Baah (BCube) to add the third goal for ASGC against the run of play, much to the chagrin of the sparse crowd that throng the venue to watch the game.

Olive FC’s efforts to come back from behind in the game paid off on the 77th minute through a solo effort from Samuel Essirifie Jnr, however that was not enough as the visitors maintained their 3-1 lead till referee Samuel Asante blew the final whistle.

Head coach of AGSC Daasebre Adu-Asare aka Prof. congratulated his side for the victory noting that he has his eyes firmly fixed on capturing the Asempa FM Fire4Fire Gala championships trophy on August 1.

“Asempa FM Fire4Fire Gala championships will bring together various supporters unions of the various Europeans club here in Ghana and that is my main target, today’s game was just a warn up game for the serious battle ahead,” he added.

Apostle Richard Osei Mensah, head coach of Olive FC praised the well-organized nature of AGSC and for their victory. He was however quick to call for a rematch in which he promised to atone for his side’s defeat.
