Arsenal File Protest Against Goldfields

Alhaji Mohammed Yakubu, the Chairman of Berekum Arsenals is hopeful that his side will be credited with the three points they surrendered to Obuasi Goldfields in their first match of the Kinapharma Premier League.

According to Yakubu, there is enough proof that Goldfields fielded an unqualified player in the person of Yaw Owusu who received a red card during the last day of the 2002 Premier League which effectively barred him from playing in the Goldfields - Arsenals match.

The FA Disciplinary Committee sits on the matter on Thursday and already Alhaji Yakubu has credited his side with six points, making them leaders of the league. The Arsenals Chairman promised never to relinquish his side's "leadership" position to any club saying "we will not look back and just as we have done to King Faisal, we shall deal with any team without showing any respect." He described the 2-1 win over King Faisal as an important one.

On officiating Yakubu described its as not too good and said though Arsenals were playing at home there were times that referee McCarthy's decisions made him think that they were playing away.

Yakubu was however ready to give Mr McCarthy the benefit of doubt and described the penalty awarded to his side as a perfect one.
