Appiah targets double win in World Cup qualifiers

New Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah wants to hit the ground running by winning June's double-header against Lesotho and Zambia in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The 51-year-old-who officially began work on Tuesday after his unveiling ceremony-has been tasked to qualify for the finals in Brazil and then reach the last four stage.

Appiah was assistant coach when Ghana progressed to the quarter-final of the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa.

His first assignment will be against the Crocodiles at home on June 3 before playing the Chipolopolo in Lusaka on June 8.

"My target is to win every game and that is what I'm looking at," Appiah.

"When I was made the caretaker coach I started working so preparations are on the way.

"We will with start with some non-residential camping and then move into residential camping before our game against Lesotho and then move to South Africa to camping there before playing Zambia," he added.

Appiah is yet to announce who will assist him on the Black Stars bench.
