Ghana winger Andre Ayew will go into Saturday's English Premier League clash between Manchester City and Swansea City to impress after missing out on the 2015 BBC African Footballer of the Year award.

The 25-year-old surprisingly missed out on the coveted award as Ivorian Yaya Toure was crowned winner on Friday evening.

Andre was hoping to win the award for the second time after the trophy in 2011 but missed out.

However, with Premier League action returning for the former Olympique Marseille man on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium he is likely to prove a point against the former league title-winners.

Ayew could lead the line at Manchester City today as Swansea City look to begin life after Garry Monk on a positive note.

The beleaguered Swansea head north having lost their manager in midweek on the back of a dismal run of one win in 12 matches.

They have never got a point at the Etihad Stadium in four previous visits, and have conceded 10 goals and netted only one — Wilfried Bony's effort in the 2-1 reverse at City 13 months ago.

But Andre's scoring form against Premier League big-guns will pose a major treat to City on the afternoon.

The Ghana vice-captain has already scored against City's cross-city rivals Manchester United, shot down Chelsea as well as Tottenham Hotspurs.

He has produced six goals in 15 appearances for Swansea.
