Amputees’ Uk Trip In Danger?

The Ghana National Amputee Football Team, The Black Challenge, have finally secured their visas to travel to the United Kingdom (UK) to play their counterparts in a series of friendly matches.

The training tour of the UK is geared towards preparing the team for the 3rd Cup of African Nations for Amputee Football (CANAF 2011) scheduled for 18th-27th November, 2011, in Accra, Ghana, where twelve nations are expected to gather for the coveted trophy.

However, though the team is to leave Accra on Thursday 13th October, 2011, the necessary financial wherewithal is not ready to ensure that all goes on well. So far, Mr. Isaac Tetteh, C.E.O of TT Brothers, has donated an amount of $15,000.00 towards the trip, whilst other individuals who gave assurances prior to the acquisition of the visas are yet to honor their promises.

If the necessary financial and logistical resources are not secured early enough, the trip risks being cancelled with serious implications on the image of the nation. The trip had earlier been postponed from its original date in July this year until some assurances were made to the team.

The players are seriously training towards the trip but are awaiting their fate, as their officials continue with consultations and pleas to corporate bodies, individuals and philanthropists to come to their aid.

Meanwhile, according to the technical team of the Black Challenge, made of coaches Ali Jarrah and Benjamin Charles Armah, the UK trip was planned to give the players the necessary exposure to ensure that Ghana does not only host a successful tournament but win it to affirm their position as the best nation in Africa in Amputee Football.

The coaches were of the opinion that, with the facility and experience the British have, the Black Challenge stand a great chance of learning more and getting better prepared and psyched up for CANAF 2011.

They described CANAF 2011 as a time of destiny in Amputee Football in Africa so called on all Ghanaians to make the all-important trip possible to further lift the image of the nation that made history as the first African country to reach the quarter finals of the Amputee Football World Cup.
