Amartey’s goal not enough to save FC Copenhagen

Ghanaian international midfielder Daniel Amartey scored an early minute opener for Danish giants FC Copenhagen but they ended up losing 5-1 against Italian side Torino and crashed out of the Uefa Europa League.

The 20-year-old raced his side who were hoping to book qualification into the lead with a 6th minute strike but the Italian Serie A side fought back strongly to win the tie massively.

Amartey capitalised on a defensive blunder by a Torino defender to smash the ball home for the Lions but they slipped to a disgraceful defeat.

Capenhagen had two men sent off within the first 45 minutes – leading to a huge advantage to Torino who took charge of the game.

Amartey’s goal on Thursday evening takes his season tally in European competition to three after he scored against Club Brugge and Bayer Leverkusen in the Uefa Champions League.

He joined Copenhagen from Swedish side Djurgarden and has been influential intheir domestic and European campaign since his arrival.
