Miracle Wave International Limited in partnership with Metro TV has pit the country’s glamorous sides-Hearts and Kotoko to drum home the message of peace before the November polls.

Fixed for the Accra Stadium in October, the game will climax series of programs Miracle Wave are embarking on aimed at educating Ghanaians to guard against the peace its enjoys.

At the launch of the We Stand For Peace campaign, themed “We need each other” in Accra recently, the Executive Chairman of Uniex Ghana Limited and Miracle Wave International, Most Rev. Dr. Daniel Markin underscored the need to pit the two teams against each other.

He said that “Football is a language that every Ghanaian understands and unites the nation despite political and religious differences, hence the need to use that tool and engage the whole country on the need to ensure peace.

“We believe that, football is everywhere and it’s a point of meeting and drawing people together. Football is the world’s most popular sport with an enormous potential to be used for social, spiritual and economic development,” he added.

According to him, the globular leather brings people together in great numbers and with so much passion and enjoyment.

The One Ghana Peace Cup would also see eight teams from different sectors including, the Parliament of Ghana, the Christian Council, the Muslim Council, the National House of Chiefs, the Ghana Police Football Team, the Media, the Movie and Music Industry and the Ghana Black Stars engaging each other in a special football game.

Chairman of the National Media Commission, Kwesi Gyan-Apenteng said: “We have only one country and all must come together and preach for peace ahead of the upcoming elections.”

Chairman of the National Peace Council, Prof. Emmanuel Asante, Public Relations Officer for Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, representative of the Ga Chief, Nii Kwatei Olemla and representatives from Metro TV pledged their support for the campaign.
