Alhaji Bandoh barks at LOC

Accra, Oct 11, GNA - Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh, Chief Executive Officer of Bahmed Travel and Tours has 'barked' at the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of Ghana 2008 for what he described as inadequate hype for the tournament.

He said that even though the nation has less than three months to host the rest of the continent, nothing concrete seems to show of any form of preparedness.

Alhaji Bandoh said the LOC has failed to utilize the numerous opportunities at its disposal to whip up enthusiasm among the people. The Chief Executive Officer told the media on Thursday that the fever is yet to reach its highest point despite months of preparations and adequate time given the LOC.

"The whole nation is quite, people are not aware of such a big event and I don't know when we will get to the expected level". Alhaji Bandoh noted that the nation is bound to lose the numerous opportunities that come with the tournament if the situation is not checked.

"Our airport, transport yards, internal transport, markets and other public places do not have anything to show that the nation will be hosting such a big event, whilst arrangements for transportation is yet to be concluded."

Alhaji Bandoh, however, reckons there is still some time left for the LOC to do its homework properly to make the tournament a memorable one.

Ghana will host the Africa Cup of Nations soccer tournament from January 20 to February 10 at the venue cities of Accra, Kumasi, Sekondi and Tamale.
