Accra Hearts of Oak Board member Alhaji Akanbi, has slammed the supporters of the club asking them to go and learn football if they don’t know football.

Concerns were raised on how the Hearts of Oak appointed Sergio Traguil as the head coach of the club. Supporters of the club charged up when the club failed to utilize their chances against Aduana Stars in their week 18 fixtures played at the Accra Sports Stadium. The appointment of Sergio Traguil seems not to be in the interest of the supporters.

Since the appointment of Sergio as the head coach of the club, he has played three matches, winning one and drawing two.

A board member of the club, Nyaho Nyaho Temakloe in an interview Graphic online, revealed that the board of the club was not involved in the decision to bring in Sergio Traguil to be head coach of the club when Kenichi and the club mutually parted ways.

Speaking to Asempa Sports, Akanbi said, “It seems people don’t want to tell the truth but the truth is only one and we will say it because it seems whatever we do for the club the supporters doesn’t seem to appreciate it.

“In the first round of the Premier League, we drew with Dreams FC and we won against them in the second round. We drew with Aduana Stars at Dormaa and they also had a draw with us here in Accra and it was clear that with the strength that Aduana Stars is having now, it is really difficult to play against them. I don’t really know how the supporters watch the match when they come to the stadium because I can say that with how the team is playing now, the team is not doing bad at all.

“I don’t understand why the supporters of the club were calling the name of Odotei. It is not Odotei that takes decision for the club but what I have seen is that some section of the supporters want to use politics to destroy the club but it will not work because this is football and not politics.

“We have people who have different political background and they are still on the board of the club so it about time the supporters gives us a break because you can see how the team now possess the ball and at Dormaa the supporters were happy even getting draw with them so why should you be angry if Aduana Stars also comes to Accra and draw with us? Akanbi furiously demanded.

“It got to a point of time where even the team wins, the supporters were not happy so why are the supporters behaving like this? For me it is not fair.

Alhaji continued, “With how the team is playing now, nobody can convince that the team is declining and whoever will say the team is declining that person don’t know football. That particular person should go and start learning football because it is about time we stop personalizing issues.

“You look at where we had these kind of players playing for the club now, we bought most of them from the second Division Clubs. We have a philosophy as a club so the supporters of the club should give us their full support and they will see a beautiful from the players.”

Hearts of Oak now travel to play Sekondo Hassacas at the Essipon Stadium in the week 19 fixtures of the Ghana Premier League.
