Akyem Anamase Zone wins Anniversary Trophy

Akyem Swedru, March 16 GNA - Akyem Anamase Zone beat their Akyem Swedr= u counterparts 2-1 in a football competition to round off activities marking Ghana's 53rd Independence Anniversary celebration in the Birim South District. Four Zones made up of schools from Akyem Aperade, Akyem Achiase, Akyem Swedru and Akyem Anamase participated in the competition, which was organized jointly at Akyem Swedru by Herald Foundation, a NON-Governmental Organization (NGO) and Ghana Union, Umea, Sweden. Dr Konlaan Benson, a member of Ghana Union, Umea, Sweden, presented th= e magnificent trophy to the winning zone. He advised the youth to guard against pre-marital sex so as not to contract the deadly HIV/AIDS disease. Dr Benson challenged students to take their studies serious and to desist from negative activities such as Internet fraud that could land them in trouble.

Mr Kwesi Ahinkorah-Anti, Secretary of the Foundation also advised the students to maintain a high sense of self- discipline to enable them to be successful in life. He called on them to refrain from all unwarranted behaviours and learn to engage their school authorities in productive discussions that 93lead t= o a win-win situation". The trophy is to be competed for every year during Independence Anniversary celebrations by the various schools. The Birim South District Assembly also presented a football each to th= e four teams that participated in the tournament.
