Aggrey Memorial wins inter schools soccer

Komenda, (C/R) Oct.29, GNA- Aggrey Memorial Zion secondary school, whipped Komenda Secondary Technical 5-0 in their Zone One inter school/ colleges soccer match played at Komenda on Tuesday.

Aggrey Memorial, last year's runners up in the National Milo soccer Tournament, made victory certain when they banged in three goals before half time.

The player who was instrumental in this sweet victory, was left half back, Emmanuel Tembe, who scored two rapid goals in the 30th and 34th minutes. Inspired by this lead, they continued to pile pressure on their opponents and in the process, earned a penalty which centre half, Thomas Eshun converted into another goal for his side.

The Komenda boys made two substations on resumption, but that did not deter their opponents from increasing the tally to 5-0 through outside right, Richard Quainoo, who also netted in two goals in the 65th and 70th minutes.

In another development, a classic goal scored by outside left, Yaw Agyapong, in the 55th minute, enabled 'Radio Central' the local GBC FM station, in Cape Coast, to draw 2-2 with tutors of the Aggrey Memorial Zion Secondary in a special football match played at the school's sports Grounds on Tuesday.

The match was arranged by the school to commemorate the centenary celebration of the Cape Coast A.M/E.Zion Church founded in 1903 by the late Reverend Osam Pinanko.

From the blast of the whistle, Radio Central, parading their top players like Ato Taylor, Yaw Owusu Agyapong and Albert Oduro tormented the defence of the tutors with fluent passes.

It therefore came as no surprise when in the 10th minute, centre forward Ato Taylor, rounded up two opposing defenders before scoring the match opener.

The Aggrey tutors, however school hit back and equalised through centre half, George Koomson in the 25th.

With the scores at par, the tutors pressurised their opponents and in

the 35th minute, outside left, Dick Otoo, mounted the tally 2-1 from a seemingly offside position.

Radio Central resumed strongly and following a combination initiated at the left flank, Agyapong, popularly known as "Mighty", scored the much needed equaliser for a 2-2 drawn game.
