Africa WCQ Draw: Good Group For Ghana

The Black Stars of Ghana and Elephants of Ivory Coast have been handed relatively easy groups in the final qualifying round for the 2010 World Cup.

At Wednesday’s draw in Zurich, Ghana were drawn against fellow West Africans Benin and Mali as well as Sudan in Group Four while the Ivorians are pitched in Group Five against Malawi, Burkina Faso and Guinea.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon appear to have drawn the toughest group as they have to battle Togo, Morocco and Gabon for a place at South Africa 2010.

Nigeria are in Group Two along with Mozambique, Kenya and Tunisia while group Three has Rwanda, Algeria, African champions Egypt and Zambia.

The winner of each group will join host South Africa for the World Cup while the three best placed teams qualify for the Africa Cup Nations in Angola, to be staged six months earlier.

The qualifying tournament will resume in March 2009.

GROUP 3 - RWANDA, ALGERIA, EGYPT, ZAMBIA
